Spring/Summer 2015 hair trends: accessories

We hope you’ve all had as glorious and unexpected a bank holiday weekend as we have!

Now that it seems as though spring is well and truly here (please don’t let us have another late flurry of snow…), we thought it was about time to take a refresher of the Spring/Summer 2015 runways, and what better place to start than with the most versatile and most fun of the hair trends: accessories.

Whether you’re after an alternative to a boring hair tie, something to jazz up your everyday hairstyle, or a showstopper of a cocktail piece, the SS15 runways had something for you.

Céline, Spring/Summer 2015

Céline’s simple yet elegant circular barrettes caused something of a social media frenzy when they hit the catwalk last season. If you want to get your hands on one of these, you’ll have to get in the queue - but we’ve found this minimal triangular hair brooch at ASOS that we like almost as much. And at just £8, you’ll be able to splash out on some of these other pieces too…

We loved the simplicity of the leather hair accessories at Tracy Reese and Reed Krakoff. The leather headband is an easy-chic way of keeping your hair out of your face - and way more edgy than a glittery alternative. Even easier are these simple leather strands used instead of a regular hair tie. You can make your own using leather cord, found at many craft shops. Hobbycraft have a massive range of colours too, not just black!

Bottega Veneta, Spring/Summer 2015

Dolce & Gabbana, Spring/Summer 2015

For evening wear, Bottega Veneta and Valentino offered up vintage-style embellished combs and headbands - go for all-out bling with something like this sequin burst hair comb from ASOS, covered in tiny pink and silver iridescent sequin flowers. Or for something a little more subtle, try this gold and pearl floral hair comb from H&M.

You can always rely on Dolce & Gabbana for some truly out-of-this-world accessories. For SS15, the inspiration was Spanish-ruled Sicily, and the crown jewels of the Spanish royal family. Elegant up-dos were topped off with intricate golden crowns and ruby-strewn hair clips. Get in on the regal action with a gorgeous baroque-style tiara - or hit the high street for a delicate golden leaf headband, the perfect piece to finish any up-do.

Dolce & Gabbana, Spring/Summer 2015

Fendi, Spring/Summer 2015

Festivals seem to be the perfect place to try out any new trend, with their care-free, anything-goes atmosphere. Stand out from the crowd by dotting some bright red flowers through your hair, à la Dolce & Gabba - we love this bright poppy garland for ease, but you could mix it up with a simple red flower clip or a red flower bun holder.

Ohne Titel recalled the ultimate festival hair accessory with feather-like pastel ribbons: think Coachella and Native American-inspired head pieces. Grab a simple feather charm hair grip for festival style that will translate to daily life, or go a little bolder with a beaded hair braid or a flower hair grip.
